RIB MOUNTAIN — Residents can learn more about the Wisconsin State Patrol’s career opportunities and responsibilities during an open house from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 12 at the Wausau State Patrol post at 2805 Martin Ave., Rib Mountain.

State Patrol personnel at the event will include a trooper, inspector, SWAT team member and K9 officer. The State Patrol is recruiting men and women interested in law enforcement careers and serving as troopers or inspectors. The application deadline is March 31.

“The open house is a chance for people to learn more about career opportunities with the State Patrol and the various public safety services our officers provide throughout the year,” said State Patrol Captain Adrian Logan, Commander of the State Patrol’s Wausau post, in a news release.

State troopers patrol interstates and other main travel corridors enforcing traffic laws and assisting stranded motorists. State Patrol inspectors have similar enforcement duties and authorities, but also work at the 13 Safety and Weight Enforcement Facilities across the state to help ensure that commercial motor vehicles and drivers are operating safely.

More information about State Patrol careers and other planned recruitment open houses can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Transportation website.
