WAUSAU — A snow emergency will be in effect from 11 p.m. March 9 until 6 a.m. March 11 in the city of Wausau. That means you should not park on the streets during that time.

Snow crews will need full access to the streets, not only for plowing but for snow removal after the storm, according to a city of Wausau news release.

Vehicles that are parked on city streets during a snow emergency are subject to a $100 fine.

Keeping parked vehicles off of the streets reduces the risk of accidents with snow plow equipment and allows the crews to more efficiently remove snow and clear the streets. Residents are also asked to refrain from blowing/pushing/depositing snow from their driveways/sidewalks back into the street; this is a violation of city ordinance and subject to a fine.
