Shereen Siewert

Wausau, Wis. ? Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) is excited to announce Shereen Siewert as the new host of “Route 51.” Broadcast regionally on The Ideas Network, “Route 51” focuses on the issues important to the north-central Wisconsin area, as well as featuring regional music, culture, and arts. Siewert takes over hosting the program on March 21 following the retirement of Glen Moberg earlier this year.

Wausau native Siewert is the founder and publisher of Wausau Pilot & Review, a nonprofit, local, online news organization covering issues in the Wausau area. Siewert is a former USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin investigative team reporter who has written extensively about the criminal justice system, winning five Golden Gavel Awards from the State Bar of Wisconsin for her work. Most recently, she earned four statewide journalism honors, including three first-place awards, from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association for her work at Wausau Pilot & Review. “We are thrilled to have Shereen on board,” said WPR’s Central Wisconsin Regional Manager Rick Reyer. “Listeners will love her approach to highlighting the people, places and politics of the region.”

Before delving into print and online journalism, Siewert had a long radio career in central Wisconsin, hosting morning shows at WIFC, WXCO, WYTE and WSPT over a 15-year span. In addition to her duties at WPR, Siewert will continue her role with Wausau Pilot & Review. “Since its inception, ‘Route 51’ has sought out voices to bring context and perspective to today’s news, while celebrating all the wonderful things that make central Wisconsin unique,” Siewert said. “I am incredibly proud to be part of continuing that tradition, and see this as an opportunity to bring people together to debate, discuss, and share their experiences.”

“Route 51” is heard Thursdays at 10 a.m. on The Ideas Network stations 101.3 & 91.9/Wausau, AM 930/Auburndale-Stevens Point, 99.1/Stevens Point, 100.9/Marshfield, 90.3/Park Falls, 89.1/Adams-Wisconsin Rapids, and 89.9/Rhinelander-Eagle River.
