WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is cautioning motorists to exercise caution today due to potentially hazardous road conditions in some areas of Marathon County.

Due to the rain and melting snow, some roadways have black ice forming on them due to the ground temperature still being cold and the lower early morning temperatures. Additionally, some roadways locations have flooded over with water of varying depths.

“Please exercise caution while traveling today; reduce your speed, increase your spacing between your vehicle and other vehicles, and be alert for changing road conditions,” the department cautioned, in a Facebook post.

If you encounter a location on a roadway that is flooded over, please choose an alternate route and avoid the flooded location since there is the potential that your vehicle may not be able to safely travel through that location.
