Tuesday’s finance meeting was brief, consisting only of two items.

The first, an alleged claim for recovery of unlawful tax was put forth by Sterling Water Inc. The claim was denied unanimously.

The second item on the agenda was a $340,000 concrete improvement budget modification.

There was not sufficient money in the annual budget for concrete improvements and no other likely sources for funding for that purpose. Thus, it was proposed that funds for concrete improvements throughout the city be taken from the savings fund. In other words, the money would come from what was left over from other projects that were allotted more money than they ended up needing, items that came in under budget, or other such savings. In this way, the money would come from funds on hand and so would not increase city debt.

The proposal was approved.
