TOWN OF PINE GROVE, Wis. — A 20-year-old Portage County man who was stabbed Monday at a town of Pine Grove residence is expected to survive, while a second man is in custody and facing criminal charges, police said.

The Portage County Communications Center received a call at 8:49 p.m. Monday for a report of a disturbance in which a man was stabbed at 8563 Pine Street, according to a news release issued Tuesday. When deputies arrived, they discovered a 19-year-old suspect being physically restrained by a family member. Police have identified the suspect as Urian Lopez, of the town of Pine Grove.

The 20-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was treated by EMS personnel at the scene and transferred by helicopter to Marshfield Medical Center.

The victim is expected to survive.

Lopez is currently being held at the Portage County Jail pending criminal charges.

Police say both men knew each other prior to the altercation and there is no danger to the public.

An investigation continues.
