WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

Former Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson is retiring from the NFL, according to multiple media sources and a Tweet from Nelson himself.

Nelson was drafted by the team in 2008. During his nine years with the team, he recorded 500 receptions, 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns. In 2014, Nelson had 98 receptions for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns for the best season of his career. The following year, Nelson tore his ACL and missed the entire season but was named Comeback Player of the Year in 2016 when he returned to the field for 14 touchdowns and 1,257 yards.

Nelson spent one season in Oakland before being cut from the team earlier this year. The Raiders eliminated Nelson after trading for Antonio Brown.

Nelson finishes his career with 613 receptions, 8,587 yards and 72 touchdowns. Nelson has the fifth-best reception record and second-most receiving touchdowns in Packers history.
