Marathon County volunteer opportunities: Week of April 1

Pantry assistant. The Salvation Army of Wausau needs personal shopper assistants to help clients through the pantry Monday-Friday. Contact Collen Hilber at 715-845-4272 or email colleen.mashlan@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Food packaging volunteers. Blessings in a Backpack D.C. Everest-Wausau provides weekend and summer food to children who may face hunger at home. They are inviting individuals or community groups of eight to help pack the food backpacks distributed each week. Call 715-359-1040, ext. 5556, or email office@bibdcewausau.org.

Prepare grounds for tours. The Fromm Brothers Historical Preservation Society is looking for volunteers to help with preparing the property for tours prior to May. Yard work and garden work and general simple upkeep will be appreciated. Contact Cheryl at 715-571-5930 or email frommbros@gmail.com.

Lunch helpers. Wausau School District- O.N.E. Volunteer is looking for community members age 18 and older to help with monthly family lunch days. Volunteers welcome families, interact with kids and help where it’s needed. Contact Roxane Hagedorn at 715-261-0584 or email rhagedor@wausauschools.org.

Childcare volunteers. The Lena Start program would gladly use some extra helping hands to watch children at the Wausau library on Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. while parents attend the class. Contact Emily at 715-848-1457 or email enowicki@chw.org.

In-kind donated items needed

Health equipment. The Good News Project is always happy to accept gently used health care equipment for their lending closet. Right now, there are needs specifically for bath transfer benches, wheelchairs, and knee scooters. Other items are accepted as well. Contact Toni with any questions at 715-843-5985.

Snack time! The Catholic Charities Warming Center is in need of the following food items: soft granola bars, pudding cups, jello cups, fruit cups, and nutrigrain bars. Contact Tracey Rieger at 715-849-3311, ext.1729, or email trieger@cclse.org.
