Wausau MMA fighter Scotty Writz will continue his upward path in the fighting world after signing a contract to compete in a high-profile bout in tne Chicago area.

Writz will compete May 11 at the Bellator MMA 221 event at the Allstate Arena. The 18,500-seat arena is in Rosemont, northeast of Chicago. Bellator MMA is a leading mixed martial arts and kickboxing organization, featuring some of the best fighters in the world. It is available to nearly 1 billion people worldwide in over 160 countries.

Writz brings his undefeated professional record against John Streacker, who owns a 5-2-0 record.

The bout is on the undercard of nine fights, highlighted by the return of Dillon Danis, a widely known fighter who was suspended for a year after an off-ring brawl at UFC 229.

The headline fight is between Michal Chandler and Patricio Pitbull.

Writz’s battle is the second on the schedule. Opening bouts begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are available online using the code WRITZ.

Scott’s local gym is Rising Son MMA, which offers many types of conditioning, workouts and training. The gym is actively seeking sponsorships and local business support to help defray the cost of travel and accommodations, while backing a local fighter and promoting the Wausau area.
