SPASH girls soccer handles East

Wausau — The SPASH Panthers got a hat trick from 2018 all-state player Abby Gemza and two more from Brynn Beversdorf to take a 5-1 victory over Wausau East Thursday.

Beversdorf, a senior midfielder, got the first goal at the 25:32 mark off an assist by sophomore midfielder Grace Smith.

East sophomore Abby Thompson got an assist from junior Emma Dehnel to tie the score six minutes later, but then Gemza, a senior midfielder, went to work.

Scoring unassisted goals in the 40th, 51st and 61st minutes, she gave her team a 4-1 lead.

Beversdorf followed up with her second goal on a Sierra Hefferan assist in the 68th.

SPASH is now 6-3 overall and 3-2 in Wisconsin Valley Conference play. East is 2-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in WVC play.
