WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

FOND DU LAC — Police in Fond du Lac are investigating multiple reports of a man approaching children and urging them to get into his vehicle.

According to the Fond du Lac Reporter, the third and most recent incident happened at about 3 p.m. Friday at a city park. A mother told police she was at the park with her daughter when a man in 4-door SUV waved to her daughter to come to his vehicle. The vehicle was reportedly either burgundy or copper in color.

When the woman approached, the man drove off. Later, the mother saw a Facebook post describing a similar incident that happened in the city earlier in the week and called police.

The suspicious man is described as white with a medium build, short hair and a white mustache who is in his 50s or 60s. He had a large reddish or brown dog in the back of the SUV.

Police say a man matching the same description approached a 13-year-old boy on April 21 who was riding his bike. The man allegedly told the boy to put his bicycle in the back of the vehicle and get in, but the boy refused and biked away. The man allegedly followed the boy for a short time but eventually gave up, police said.

The boy’s report prompted a 19-year-old man to report a similar situation in which he was approached April 17 by a man with a similar description but driving a tan Ford Explorer. In that case, police said, the man allegedly asked the 19-year-old to get in the truck and “perform a lewd act.” The teen drove away in his own vehicle.
