One person was airlifted to a hospital following an officer-involved shooting west of Wausau near Abbotsford.
No officers were injured.
The incident began to unfold at about 9:30 p.m. on Hwy. 29 just west of CTH E. All lanes of the highway were shut down for about an hour.
As police continued to investigate the highway shooting, officers converged on the Home Motel in Abbotsford. The entire motel was surrounded by crime scene tape late Thursday, and police confirmed the motel investigation is connected to the shooting.
Police say the public are not in any danger at this time. The state Department of Criminal Investigation is spearheading the inquiry.
