Multiple crews called to brush fire east of Wausau

Crews from multiple agencies have been called to battle a brush fire east of Wausau that is spreading quickly.

The initial blaze was reported at about 11 a.m. Crews from SAFER have requested additional units and have called the Wisconsin Department of Resources to the scene.

The fire is being reported near Birch Street and Labrador Road, north of Hwy. 29.

As of 1 p.m., heavy smoke could still be seen pouring from the area of the blaze.
