NEKOOSA, Wis. — Police are searching for a 25-year-old man accused of leading police on an early morning chase, then crashing the SUV he was driving into the Domtar Paper Mill in Nekoosa.

The chase and crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Cameron Allen, of Nekoosa.

Police say deputies tried to stop Allen’s vehicle after he allegedly crossed the center line on Hwy. 173 at Hwy. 80 in the town of Remington. A passenger exited the vehicle before the pursuit began, which ended due to safety concerns.

Shortly after the chase ended, Allen allegedly crashed his vehicle into a fence and wall of the paper mill and fled on foot. He remains at large as of Tuesday afternoon.

No one at the mill was injured in the crash. Police have not released a photo or description of the suspect.
