A local development group is putting the finishing touches on their plan to resume construction on the stalled Riverlife Villages project which is set to resume construction in June.

During a joint session of Wausau’s Economic Development and Finance committees on Wednesday, local developers Bob Ohde and Mitch Viegut presented their current plan for a three-story, 56-unit residential complex on the near east side of the river. Ohde and Viegut are two of three partners in Riverlife, LLC, the developer that is now handling the multi-million dollar project.

Ohde told the committees he has been working with an architect to finalize the design for the complex, which has changed since the last rendition was presented to the city. The floor plan now includes a diversified mix of apartment sizes, many with balconies and larger windows. Apartment sizes range from a 582 to 1,856 square feet. Plans for the complex include amenities such as a fitness center and club room for residents.

Viegut said he has been working on the economic side and finalizing the agreement with the city.

“We expect on May 14 to have a revised term sheet and on May 21 to have kind of the final plans for…approval,” said Wausau Economic Development Director Chris Schock.
