Village of Weston board members this week approved a new trustee to represent residents, filling a vacancy created when former Trustee Wally Sparks was elected village president in April.

Hooshang Zeyghami, who was on the ballot for the April election, was approved as the new trustee during a meeting May 6, Sparks said. In the April 2 election, four candidates ran for three open seats. Zeyghami was 15 votes shy of new trustee Nate Fiene.

Zeyghami, 77, is a retired engineer and past president of the Wausau Area Chamber of Commerce. He was chairman of CDA – Community Development Authority; vice chairman of the Planning Commission; a board member of South Area Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER); and served on the Everest Metro Joint Finance Committee.

Hooshang will serve the final year of Sparks’ two-year trustee term, for which he was elected in April 2018.
