WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

KENOSHA, Wis. — A 15-year-old boy is in custody in connection with the fatal shooting Thursday of a Kenosha teen, police have confirmed.

Martice L. Fuller was arrested Friday morning in Racine. He is a person of interest in the shooting death of 16-year-old Kaylie Juga. Police say Juga was killed inside her Kenosha home at about 3 p.m. on Thursday. Juga’s 39-year-old mother, Stephanie, was also injured in the shooting. She is hospitalized in serious but stable condition, police said.

Fuller, who allegedly fled the scene, was named early on as a person of interest in the shooting. In a news release, police said Fuller and Juga had a past relationship.

“Despite medical efforts, the 16-year-old female died on scene; the 39-year-old female was transported to a local hospital and is in serious, but stable, condition,” the release said.

Police initially believed the suspect may have still been in the house where the shooting occurred.

According to the Kenosha News, officers initially cleared the first floor of the home before moving to an upstairs bedroom. The neighborhood, typically a quiet area, was flooded with officers in tactical gear, the newspaper reported. Parents of students at a nearby school were asked to pick up their children.

As the incident unfolded, the typically quiet neighborhood was flooded with police, including officers in tactical gear. Two hours after the initial call, witnesses reported hearing a loud boom, possibly the sound of a stun grenade, and tactical officers cleared the area.

The Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau is spearheading the investigation.
