WAUSAU — An investigation is underway into the death of a 49-year-old man whose body was discovered Friday afternoon near a Wausau grocery store.

Emergency crews were called at about 1 p.m. to Pick ‘n’ Save, 205 Central Bridge St., after a passerby reported seeing a man lying on his side underneath a truck who was not moving. The discovery was made in an area near Cherry Street and Cedar Street, just west of the grocery store.

The reporting person was unsure whether the man was breathing at the time the call was placed.

But when rescue crews arrived, they discovered the man had died. Wausau Police Capt. Benjamin Graham said the man’s body was found beneath a semi trailer that he had been using for shelter.

A preliminary investigation suggests the man died of natural causes, Graham said. His name has not yet been released.
