STEVENS POINT — A University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point alumna with business and economic development experience, Jenny Resch, has been named director of the Office of Economic and Community Development at the university.

The Office of Economic and Community Development is one of the ways UW-Stevens Point helps meet regional needs. “We are committed to helping business and community partners learn about the ample resources available to them at UW-Stevens Point. This unit will continue to meet with organizations throughout our region to listen, learn and solve issues together,” said Chancellor Bernie Patterson in a news release.

Among her responsibilities, Resch will provide overall strategic leadership for economic and workforce development initiatives for the university. She will lead and support 25 professional staff members in Continuing Education and the Small Business Development Center involved in outreach, non-credit and training programs. In addition, she will develop and implement business and industry partnerships to foster a supportive economic environment, including community education programming for all UW-Stevens Point campuses.

“I am excited to continue building strong relationships with business and community members and my team,” Resch said in the release. “We are connecting UW-Stevens Point faculty, staff and students with our partners to meet the needs of northcentral Wisconsin.”

Resch has worked at the university since July 2010 in a variety of roles, including interim special assistant to the chancellor for economic development and as director of outreach and student affairs for the School of Business and Economics.

A Marshfield resident, Resch earned her bachelor’s degree in business from UW-Stevens Point in 2010 and an associate degree at what is now UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield.
