Everest girls soccer continues to roll

Weston — D.C. Everest got two goals from Elle Hersperger en route to a 4-2 victory over Fox Valley Association leader Appleton North at the Everest invitational tournament Saturday.

After Rachel Kenney had put North ahead in the 22nd minute, Hersperger struck back quickly on an assist from Maddie Simpson, tying the score in the 24th minute.

She then got an assist from Sarah Lorge in the 30th to give the Evergreens a 2-1 lead.  In the 34th, Hersperger and Simpson teamed up again, with Simpson getting the score to make it 3-1 at halftime.

Alanna Schneck’s assist to Meghan Heil gave Everest a 4-1 lead in the 77th. North’s Taylor Tomoda scored in the 89th to make the final margin 4-2.

Everest goalie Sonja Budleski and North’s Grace Sprangers each had six saves.

With the win, the Evergreens — ranked No. 6 in Wisconsin’s top division — moves to 14-1-1 on the season. North, which has a conference record of 4-0-2 and is tied for the Fox Valley lead with Kimberly and Appleton East, is now 10-3-2 overall.

North tied No. 4-ranked Kimberly, 1-1, on Thursday.
