Everest claims WVC boys golf crown

Marshfield – D.C. Everest finished second in the final leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference boys golf meet on Friday but it was enough to give the Evergreens the overall championship.

Everest shot a round of 349 to finish with the team title after the seven legs of the league tournament. Marshfield, which finished 13 shots ahead of the Evergreens at RiverEdge Golf Course, placed third in WVC title chase overall. Stevens Point Area Senior High placed third in the tournamnet overall, just 1.5 points behind DCE and half a point ahead of Marshfield.

The chase for the individual championship had little drama this year. Merrill senior Russell Dettmering shot a round of 77 on his way to his third-straight conference title Dettmering earned medalist honors on Friday, the fifth time in the seven-leg tournament in which he earned the honor

Dettmering had a round of 77, one shot better than Wausau East’s Carter Crygan
