WAUSAU — Crews were called Monday evening to the Wausau Downtown Airport for a report of a plane crash.

The crash was reported at about 7:45 p.m. at the airport, at 725 Woods Place on the city’s southeast side. Wausau Downtown Airport is a city owned public use airport that serves general aviation aircraft, charter flights and seaplane operations.

Witnesses tell Wausau Pilot and Review they saw three police and one rescue vehicle at the scene of the crash.

Initial reports suggest the single-engine plane tipped on its wing after landing. The pilot and sole passenger of the plane was not injured in the crash. The pilot’s name has not been released.
