WAUSAU —  The Wausau Riverwolves Colin Brey, a 6? 2?, 200-pound defenseman, has committed to play ACHA D1 hockey this fall for Northern Illinois University.

Brey was a pre-post player for the Riverwolves during the 2018-19 season. He started in 14 games and contributed one goal and two assists. During his senior season at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School, Brey netted 20 total points.

“I’ll definitely miss Wausau. I met a lot of great people and will always be grateful to the Wausau Riverwolves organization for developing my skills,” Brey said in a Riverwolves news release. “I’m excited to play high level college hockey at NIU with their move to the D1 level and the new Midwest College Hockey Conference.”

Brey is pursuing a degree in physical education teaching and coaching.
