The Badger State Games’ Summer Games bring challenges for the mind and body this coming weekend as chess players converge in the Wausau area to test their strategy and road bikes race up Rib Mountain to test their speed and stamina. On-site registration is available for all events.

Northern Wisconsin Chess Championships

Top ranked U.S. Chess Federation players from around Wisconsin will compete for a medal in the very first Badger State Games chess tournament. U.S. Chess has grown to serve over 93,000 members and represents the United States in the World Chess Federation.

When: June 1 and 2

Road Bike Time Trials

Berlin Time Trials and Race Up Rib Mountain return as popular BSG events. Tonight, racers gather in the parking lot of the Quality Inn in Rib Mountain where riders start in 30-second intervals and are timed on their ascent to the top of Rib Mountain. Berlin Time Trials consists of timed races for many ages, with courses ranging up to 23.5 miles on country roads.
