WAUSAU — YWCA Wausau has sold its building to Red Door Ventures, but will continue to rent space in the historic Grant Street location.
“We could not have found a better owner and we’re pleased to say we will stay on as renters in the building,” said Marty Millerleile, board president, in a news release in late May.
YWCA Wausau listed the building fewer than two years ago.
“It was a difficult board decision to sell the building,” Millerleile said. “We did so because it was too large for our current programming and we did not want to be in the business of building management.”
Red Door Ventures, owned by Dick Holster, Ton Holster and Luke Muschinske, very much is in that business. In fact, it did the remodel in the 1990s.
“The other thing that really appealed to us about Holster is their history and solid reputation in the community. It’s a win-win for YWCA Wausau and our community,” Millerleile said.
Red Door Ventures plans to find renters for the building and maintain its historical beauty. Current renter, The Cross Church, plans to stay in the building.
By the end of the summer, YWCA Wausau will have its own entrance and occupy the space left of the main entrance on Grant Street. YWCA Wausau will continue to provide programing that empowers women, and promotes peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. It expects to unveil new programming this fall.
