WESTON — The YMCA is celebrating its 175th birthday with a day of action.

On June 8 you can help your local YMCA plant seedlings in the Woodson YMCA Community Garden at the Aspirus Branch, 3402 Howland Ave., Weston. Drop in any time from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Produce grown at the garden is given to area food pantries.

The YMCA has empowered people to be a positive force for social change since its founding in London in 1844. Today, there is a YMCA presence in 119 countries.

Individuals or groups also are invited to help weed, prune and harvest fresh produce through September.

No garden tools or experience needed. Wear comfortable work clothes.
