WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

Despite a late inning rally, the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Saturday fell to the Madison Mallards by a score of 4-2.

The game was the first of the season at Athletic Park in Wausau.

The Mallards got off to an early lead in the first two innings and got ahead by 3-0. The Woodchucks got on the board in the fifth inning after a double by Kaeber Rog, a single from Javier Rosario, and a sacrifice fly from Nolan Soliveres to earn the first ‘Chucks run. Brandon Seltzer hit a sacrifice fly to score a man in the bottom of the ninth inning with the bases loaded as a result, but the Woodchucks were unable to capitalize for a win.

Top Performers

Brandon Seltzer had two hits and an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull the Woodchucks within two runs.

Nolan Soliveres was responsible for the Woodchucks first run. He hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Kaeber Rog.

The Wisconsin Woodchucks will continue their first homestand of the season at Athletic Park against the Madison Mallards on Sunday, June 2. First pitch is at 3:05 p.m.
