Strong to severe storms are in the forecast for central Wisconsin late Tuesday into early Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

As of 9 p.m. Tuesday, a severe thunderstorm watch was in effect west of Marathon County as a strong storm system moves it way throughout the Midwest.

Heavy rain, lighting, hail and damaging winds are possible overnight with the strongest storms expected between midnight at 3 a.m.

Weather officials caution residents to keep an eye on the the forecast and have a way to get the latest weather information, including any watches or warnings. If you must be outdoors in the risk area, have alternate plans in place, including knowing where the nearest sturdy shelter is, in the event severe weather threatens your area.
