WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

After beating the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on their own field one day earlier the Wisconsin Woodchucks were unable to sweep the series, walking away with a 5-3 loss at Athletic Park on Tuesday.

The Rafters were the first to score in the third inning with an RBI double from Jake Dunham. The Woodchucks soon made it a tie game in the sixth inning when left-fielder Kenny Rodriguez hit a ball hard up the middle that deflected off of the pitcher. The hit was able to score center-fielder Brandon Seltzer and make it a 1-1 game.

The Woodchucks then took a 3-1 lead with a two-run RBI double off of the left field wall by pinch-hitter Byron Murray. The next inning was a big one for the Rafters after they scored four runs to give them a 5-3 lead in the eighth inning. The Rafters never let go of that lead, leaving the first series between these two teams even. They will meet again next week on Tuesday, June 11th for a double-header that will start in Wisconsin Rapids at 11:35 AM and continue with a second game in Wausau at Athletic Park at 6:35 PM.
