WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

OGEMA, Wis. — The owners of a Price County farm are facing potential criminal charges after an anonymous tip led officials to discover numerous dead animals on the farm that were not properly buried.

The tip, received Monday, pertained to alleged mishandling of animals, officials said in a release. Responding officers discovered numerous cows and sheep at a farm owned by Calvin Berwald and his wife, Sara Tvedt. In addition, county officials were forced to euthanize a goat and a cow. A dog was found covered with porcupine quills and was taken from the property, officials said.

Now, a criminal investigation is underway.

Berwald and Tvedt  were previously found guilty of failing to control animals, with 10 additional pending charges filed in 2017, according to a WJFW report.
