The victim in an apparent homicide Friday in Wausau has been identified as 19-year-old Troy Wilcox, of Wausau.
Police were called at 3:07 p.m. Friday, June 7 to a home in the 300 block of N. Second Avenue for a report of a medical emergency, according to a Wausau Police Department news release. Upon arrival, they discovered Wilcox dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
Police say Wilcox was drinking with a group of friends at a party that extended into the early morning hours of the day he was found. His body was discovered by a family member.
David Anselmo, 18, faces recommended charges of second degree reckless homicide in connection with the death. Anselmo was arrested about eight hours after police were called to the home. He remains in the Marathon County Jail.
Investigators conclude Anselmo was the last person at the party. Anselmo returned to the scene after Wilcox was discovered dead and was interviewed by police before being arrested.
An initial court appearance is set for Thursday in Marathon County Circuit Court.
Additional details are expected to be released on Tuesday.
