WAUSAU — Ben Clark has researched local band culture and will present “Making Music in Marathon County,” another topic in the History Speaks series, at 2 p.m. June 15 at the Woodson History Center, 410 McIndoe St., Wausau.

Whether it’s German, school, military, German, brass, dance or concert, the band has been the central institution in the musical history in Marathon County. Learn about the development of bands and how they went from popular musical entertainment, to a staple of modern education and symbol of our shared heritage and history.

Clark is the archivist at the Marathon County Historical Society and plays saxophone in the Wausau Concert Band and Merrill City Band, among others.

There is no admission fee; however, donations are appreciated.  Registration is not required.
