WAUSAU — Wausau East High School senior Elizabeth Schumann received the Resolution of Commendation by the Board of Education for being named a 2019 Kohl Excellence Scholar through the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation, the Wausau School District announced in June.

“As a student, Elizabeth Schumann has demonstrated superior academic ability and achievement by maintaining a 4.0 grade point average,” said East High Principal Brad Peck, who nominated Schumann for the recognition. “Elizabeth has definitely made her academic studies her top priority. She is also a full International Baccalaureate student.

“Personally, Elizabeth’s character is impeccable. She is a positive role model for other students in our school and I am impressed with the excellent citizenship skills that she exhibits on a daily basis. Therefore, because of her academic ability, acceptance of multiple responsibilities and exceptional leadership skills.”
