ALBAN — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Portage County Highway Department will remove and replace a culvert on Highway 49, 500 feet north of Saumer Road in the town of Alban, Portage County.

Highway 49 is scheduled to close at this location beginning at 6 a.m. June 25 through 6 p.m. June 26.

For motorists traveling on Highway 49, the following detour applies:

  • Highway 49 northbound and Highway 66 eastbound to Highway 49 will be detoured to Highway I northbound (just west of Rosholt) to Highway C eastbound, back to Highway 49
  • The route for Highway 49 southbound is reverse
  • Highway 49 will be open to local residents overnight and can expect a gravel patch in the road until paving on June 26
