WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for 25 Wisconsin counties including Marathon, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon through tonight with a watch in place until 7 p.m.

The best chance for strong to severe storms is across north-central and central Wisconsin between 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for east-central Wisconsin and along the lakeshore.

The primary threat from the expected storms will be damaging winds, along with large hail, lightning and heavy rainfall.

Weather officials caution residents to keep an eye on the the forecast and have a way to get the latest weather information, including any watches or warnings. If you must be outdoors in the risk area, have alternate plans in place, including knowing where the nearest sturdy shelter is, in the event severe weather threatens your area.
