Local resident Kim Lemke, owner of Kim’s BS Sauce, will host his annual Meat Fest this weekend at the corner of Grand Avenue and Kent Street.

What started as a very large picnic at a friend’s house quickly grew to be too popular and caused parking issues, Lemke said. That’s why he moved his annual event from a private home to the Midas Automotive Center parking lot at 2119 Grand Avenue in Wausau.

Business was so brisk last year, Lemke ran out of food much earlier than expected. This year, however, Lemke says he’s prepared for a crowd. He’s secured hundreds of pounds of pork shoulder and brisket, along with 700 racks of tasty ribs.

In addition, Lemke plans to serve as much as 300 pounds of brisket mac and cheese along with pulled pork sundaes and side dishes.

Kim’s BS Sauce, which now has seven flavors and is sold at more than 100 retail outlets in Wisconsin, is known throughout the area and produces 100 percent of its product in Wisconsin.

Meat Fest will have limited seating for dining on site and will have carry-out containers for to-go orders.

“I would love to have seating for everyone, but limited space will not allow,” Lemke said, in a Facebook post.

“The Boss” starts serving at 2 p.m. on Thursday, noon on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday. Follow the signs for parking directions, which will lead you to the former Ponderosa lot, and follow Kim’s BS Sauce on Facebook.
