The Housing and Homelessness Coalition, an initiative of United Way of Marathon County, is seeking volunteers to help conduct a Point In Time Count during the overnight hours of July 24.
Teams of volunteers will count individuals experiencing homelessness. Data gathered helps to provide a snapshot of homelessness in Marathon County and is used to evaluate housing and homeless assistance.
The count includes people who are unsheltered living on the streets and those staying in homeless shelters.
To volunteer for the Point in Time Count, contact MaiGer Moua at 715-298-5726.
From 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on July 25, local nonprofit organizations will host Project Connect at The Salvation Army Worship and Community Center, 103 S. Second Ave., Wausau. The event includes a free lunch served from noon to 1 p.m., free haircuts beginning at 12:30 p.m. and free showers.
There will also be an opportunity for people experiencing housing challenges to connect with local organizations that may be able to assist them. Anyone who is having trouble with rent, house payments or other challenges related to housing is encouraged to attend.
