MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA celebrated the completion of its expansion and renovation with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on July 16.

The expansion of the Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA will help the organization accommodate community growth and serve people in search of well-being while forging partnerships to help the Y carry out its mission.

The newly constructed facility includes a healthy living center (with 24/7 access), strength training center, fieldhouse, walking/running track, multi-generational community room, welcome center and member lounge. Many areas of the existing Y were renovated as part of the project, including group exercise rooms, the child watch area and youth and family lounge.

“We’re particularly excited to celebrate the revitalization of this YMCA because it brings to fruition the goals of the 2016 partnership between the Marshfield Area YMCA and Marshfield Clinic Health System, which is to ensure all people we serve have access to the range of programs and services that improve people’s health and curb the spread of chronic disease through preventive health efforts,” said John Nystrom, CEO of the Marshfield Area YMCA, in a news release. “Sharing resources, core competencies and unique strengths, we intend to make a significant impact on critical health issues throughout Wood, Clark and Marathon counties,”

The newly constructed and renovated YMCA opened on March 11. The Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA offers financial assistance to qualified individuals for vital programs, such as child care, swim lessons, group exercise classes and chronic disease prevention.
