WAUSAU — Today, July 18, Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Route 51” will feature an hour of music and conversation with the Miami, Florida-based South Beach Chamber Ensemble.

Led by Wausau native and cellist Michael Andrews, the group returns to central and northern Wisconsin for their 14th annual chamber music festival.

Host Shereen Siewert will talk with Andrews and his musicians about South Beach Up North, which begins with Thursday’s episode of “Route 51” and continues with four separate performances in the Wausau area and Minocqua. The group’s repertoire includes classical music, American pop standards, jazz and rock. The musicians will share selections from their upcoming performances and discuss the reasons behind their annual sojourn from southern Florida to Wisconsin’s Northwoods.
