WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

Severe weather that ripped through central Wisconsin Friday spawned at least one tornado, along with numerous funnel clouds, damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado at about 8:30 p.m. in Bevent that went on to destroy a barn in Knowlton. Large hail and heavy rain dotted the area, with reports of some downed trees and power lines.

Readers are reporting significant storm damage, especially between Elcho and Pelican Lake. Some roads remain impassable as of Saturday morning. Several campgrounds had significant damage, and the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department reported a high number of calls overnight regarding downed power lines and weather damage.
