WAUSAU — The Marathon County Historical Society invites upper-elementary and middle school-age children to register for Kids History Day. This free, fun activity day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Woodson History Center, 410 McIndoe St., Wausau.

Children ages 8 and older can explore what life was like in Marathon County more than a century ago. Participants will be able to handle artifacts and play old-fashioned games. This year, participants will take a walk to the Wisconsin River to see which secrets from the past have been revealed by the drawdown of the water. (Wear good walking shoes!)

There is no registration fee. Participants are asked to bring their own bag lunch. Lemonade, water and a snack will be provided. Space is limited to 25 children. Registrations must be received by Aug. 13.

For more information or to register your child(ren), call the Marathon County Historical Society at 715-842-5750. A registration form also can be found at www.marathoncountyhistory.org.
