Marathon County volunteer opportunities: Week of Aug. 5

Be a Therapy Horse Side Walker.  Stable Hands Equine Therapy Center engages volunteers in walking alongside children or adults on horseback. Provide safety, security and encouragement. Contact Jennifer at 715-581-6505 or jenniferschwede@gmail.com.

Aspirus Hospice Patient/Family Support (Home Care). Volunteers provide emotional support to patients and their families as they give respite to caregivers and read, walk or sit with patients. Contact Samantha at 715-847-2424 or Samantha.Giese@aspirus.org.

Food Truck Drivers for The Neighbors’ Place. Drivers needed to help with food pickups both in and out of town for the food pantry. Valid driver’s license and the ability to lift and carry items may be required. A flexible schedule helpful, as donations can sometimes be sporadic. Ability and experience preferred driving larger box trucks (16-foot box truck). No CDL required. Contact Kathy at 715-845-1966 or kbr@neighborsplace.org.

Friendly Visitor Volunteer. Spend time with people receiving Heartland Hospice services in Wausau and surrounding communities. Activities include reading to patients, playing cards, going on walks, helping with errands or reminiscing about days gone by. Visit schedule is set by the volunteer and is very flexible. Summer Volunteers at Boys and Girls Club. Volunteers mentor, engage and build supportive relationships with club members, help supervise club spaces (art room, learning center, gym, skate park, games room), assist with program activities, chaperone field trips and more. In-Kind Donated Items Needed

Let’s Get Peddling! The Neighbors’ Place is always looking for gently used, working, adult bikes. Contact Mallory at 715-845-1966 or mallory@neighborsplace.org.

Pillows, Sheet Sets and Towel Sets. The Women’s Community is looking for new pillows, twin and double sheet sets, and new towels and washcloths. Please contact Jessica at 715-842-5663 or Jessica@womenscommunity.org if you have a donation to make.

Sweet Dreams-Adult Weighted Blanket Needed. North Central Health Care is in need of an adult weighted blanket. Weighted blankets are used to help manage anxiety and to sleep more deeply. Contact Kathy at 715-848-4450 or volunteer@norcen.org.
