Marathon County Public Library programs: Week of Aug. 11

Kids are invited to create their very own flying saucer from Aug. 12-16 at the Mosinee Branch, 123 Main St., Mosinee. Drop in any time the branch is open throughout the week to create your own spacecraft using bowls, aluminum foil and other craft supplies! Free. Call 715-693-2144 for more info.


Using a variety of craft supplies, kids can make their own paper plate alien or plastic spaceships from Aug. 12-17 at the Hatley Branch, 435 Curtis Ave., Hatley. Drop in any time throughout the week to participate. Free, with all supplies provided. For more info, call 715-446-3537.


Kids can craft their own paper planets out of torn paper and other supplies during a week-long event running from Aug. 12-17 at the Marathon City Branch, 515 Washington St., Marathon City. Drop by any time the branch is open to participate. Free. Call 715-443-2775.

Join the library for a screening of Shaena Mallett’s documentary “Farmsteaders” on Aug. 13 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at its Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. The film follows a man who attempts to resurrect his grandfather’s small dairy farm at a time when agriculture seems to favor large-scale farms. This event is a collaboration with POV, PBS’ award-winning nonfiction film series (www.pbs.org/pov), and is set to premiere on PBS on Sept. 2. Free and open to the public. Adults can use markers and plain white tiles to create their own artistic dyed coasters on Aug. 13 from 6-7 p.m. at the Stratford Branch, 213201 Scholar St., Stratford. Free, with all supplies provided. Call 715-687-4420 for more info.
