WAUSAU – The 2019 Aspirus Women’s Golf Classic raised $87,000 at the Wausau Country Club for three Aspirus programs in early August.
On. Aug. 5, more than 250 golfers, caddies volunteers, businesses and community members partnered with Aspirus to raise money and have fun.
“We’re very proud to have raised money to help three great programs at Aspirus,” said Kim Smerda, fund development specialist for the Aspirus Health Foundation, in a news release.
The money will help kids build healthy brains through the Reach Out and Read program at Aspirus Clinics, victims of sexual assault and abuse through the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, and patients and families in need of a place to stay at the Aspirus Family House during a medical crisis and when traveling for specialty care.
“This was our 13th year of hosting the event. Each year our golfers, caddies and sponsors amaze us with their generosity and creativity in their costumes and cart decorations. We are so grateful for the support of our community and could not do it without them,” Smerda said.
