WAUSAU — A groundbreaking ceremony of JoJo’s Jungle will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at Brockmeyer Park, 4200 Stettin Drive in Wausau.
Created in honor of and named after Josiah “JoJo” Hoerter, JoJo’s Jungle will be geared to combine play elements so that any child of any ability can enjoy his or her time in a public park.
JoJo’s Jungle will be Wausau’s first all-inclusive playground destination for children with disabilities.
JoJo passed away in 2015, a few months shy of his third birthday. Before he died, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted his wish to create a playground in his backyard that he could enjoy with his siblings. As a way to extend his memory and his legacy, JoJo’s family worked to raise more than $2 million to create JoJo’s Jungle for the entire community to enjoy.
