WAUSAU ? Cannabadiol, the non-psychoactive compound derived from hemp plants now grown legally in central and northern Wisconsin, is surging in popularity as CBD oils and other products are offered everywhere from boutique shops to convenience stores.

At. 10 a.m. today,  Aug. 15, Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Route 51” host Shereen Siewert welcomes Wausau Wellness Center co-owner Bonnie Hastings and Marathon County Alcohol and Other Drugs Partnership Coordinator Melissa Moore for a discussion on the uses, efficacy and legal issues surrounding CBD.

During the program, listeners will hear Mayo Clinic Research Director Dr. Brent Bauer’s thoughts on studies involving CBD, while State Senator Patrick Testin, R-Stevens Point, will discuss his own CBD use. Listeners will also hear from State Rep. Pat Snyder, R-Schofield, on efforts to regulate CBD, and the connection to the Right to Try bill, bipartisan legislation he co-sponsored that was signed into law last year.
