Police in Madison have blocked off a portion of Monona Drive in Madison as a standoff with an armed suspect continues, hours after the incident began.

A SWAT team is at the scene.

Police were called at about 1:30 a.m. to a report of a shot fired outside a home in the 4000 block of Monona Drive. Officers responding to the area established a perimeter and tried to communicate with the 52-year-old man suspected of firing the shot but have gotten no response, police said.

Early Thursday additional tactical resources were being called in to assist, according to a news release.
