Wausau Pilot and Review will kick off fall high school sports this month with two veteran sports journalists covering Wausau East, Wausau West, Newman Catholic and D.C. Everest High School sporting events.

Look for coverage of football, soccer, volleyball, women’s tennis, women’s golf, and cross country. This effort, which launched last year after local sports coverage was eliminated at several area news outlets, is being funded solely through individual and corporate donations. Learn more here.

Scott Williams spent the past 30 years as a multiple award-winning sports journalist based in Stevens Point.

“I understand the pride and passion people feel for their local high school and college teams,” Williams said. “I share that same passion. To the student-athletes, coaches and parents, I look forward to delving into the personal stories and team successes in the Wausau area this fall, and relating those to the community like only the written word can offer.”

Brian Kalish worked in the local sports scene for more than 10 years, covering everything from youth sports to dozens of high school state championships and more. The bedrock of Kalish’s coverage has always been a focus on highlighting the accomplishments of student athletes.

Sharing those stories with the viewing public through the written word and photographs, as well as videos, is his passion and ultimately what sets Wausau Pilot and Review’s sports coverage apart from other media outlets.
