Police in Portage County arrested a man speeding on I39 Sunday on preliminary charges of fourth offense drunken driving with a child inside the vehicle.

According to police, 49-year-old Terry T. Gumhold, of St. Germain, was driving 94 mph in a 70 mph zone before he was stopped. Open alcohol containers were allegedly discovered inside the vehicle, an offense for which he was also cited.

Police say Gumhold was driving with a blood alcohol concentration higher than the 0.02 percent limit imposed on him due to his prior convictions, but the actual BAC has not been specified. The age of the child was not released.

The Wisconsin State Patrol made the arrest.

Court records show Gumhold was last convicted of OWI in 2011 in Vilas County, when he was sentenced to two years probation and 30 days in jail.

Formal charges are expected to be filed this week.
