Johnny Cee Cards in Schofield will close its doors Sept. 2, but gamers will have a new home for collectible card games, board games, video games and more when a new store opens Sept. 3 at Wausau Center mall.

The Gaming Emporium, a 4,000 square foot retail gaming store will feature product lines such as Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Warhammer, and Lego. They’ll also carry a wide variety of boards games, video games, and miniatures.

Several current Johnny Cee employees with also be working at the new location.

David Miller, owner of The Gaming Emporium, said he is excited to continue the longstanding legacy of Johnny Cee Cards by providing the gaming community of Central Wisconsin with a friendly location to play games and expand their own collections.

A variety of weekly events and tournaments will be held with a full schedule on the store’s Facebook page. An official grand opening celebration is planned for early October.

The store will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
